September 14, 2009, WINOOSKI VT, USA — BioTek Instruments joined thousands of dedicated Vermonters for an unforgettable day of fitness, fun and fundraising as part of the 4th annual Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival, held at the Waterfront Park in Burlington, VT on August 2, 2009.
BioTek was a Pewter Dragon level sponsor, and entered two teams in the 300-meter boat race; the BioTek PowerWaves and the Precision Paddlers. The teams, part of 75 community teams, raced against each other and the elements to raise money for this year’s festival beneficiary – Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, Vermont’s camp for children with cancer. Despite the wind and rain, 42 BioTekkers and friends put their best paddles forward for a spirited day of friendly competition and teambuilding.
Deborah Farnham, Director of Marketing Operations and coordinator of BioTek’s Dragon Boat fundraising events noted, “Rain or shine – it doesn’t matter. It’s really an exciting way for Vermonters to join together to create a positive impact in our community. We did it last year and we can’t wait to do it again next year!”
Prior to the Festival races, BioTek organized company barbeques and breakfasts, raffles, and other fundraising activities, raising over $3,600 for Dragonheart Vermont and Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.
