BioTek Participates in A Time to Give Fundraiser

November 18, 2009, WINOOSKI VT, USA — BioTek Instruments joined in the fourth annual A Time to Give event on November 14 at the Shelburne Town Hall. The event benefited the Connor B. Turnbaugh Foundation, with proceeds going to Vermont families that have a child inflicted with pediatric cancer.

The A Time to Give event included a 5K/10K walk/run, kids 1K fun run, silent auction, music and more. More than 50 BioTek employees and their families and friends participated, with BioTek donations equaling $1,200.

The Foundation was created in 2006 by BioTek employee Mary Turnbaugh and her husband Jeff after their son Connor was diagnosed with Leukemia AML. Through their own experience, the Turnbaughs became aware of the financial strain that families can endure while struggling with pediatric cancer and established the Connor B. Turnbaugh Foundation. The Foundation provides financial support for Vermont families dealing with pediatric cancer through assistance with basic housing and utility bills, child care, and more. These payments provide families with financial security, and are often the difference between maintaining a normal standard of living and being forced into bankruptcy or eviction.
