FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BioTek Welcomes Senator Sanders

On August 9, 2011, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders met with BioTek Instruments management and toured the facility to learn how the company is growing and bringing substantial global revenue and jobs into Vermont. Recently inducted into the Deane C. Davis Vermont Business Hall of Fame, BioTek remains committed to recruiting and retaining Vermonters and to facilitating life science and drug discovery research.

During the visit, Briar Alpert, BioTek President & CEO stated, “BioTek is privately held, which is key to our long-term success. In this manner, we can make decisions and investments for lasting benefit to our customers and employees, rather than short-term financial gain for investors.”

Senator Sanders noted, “In this difficult economy I was delighted to learn more about the success that BioTek has had in expanding their business. I am very pleased that as BioTek expands, it is creating good jobs here in Vermont.” He continued, “It is clear to me, and to BioTek, that there is definitely a future for manufacturing in the United States. In my view, BioTek’s success in growing both their business and the job opportunities they offer to Vermont workers provides important lessons for other businesses and for policy makers.”

BioTek Instruments, Inc., headquartered in Winooski, VT, USA, is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of microplate instrumentation and software. BioTek instrumentation is used to aid in the advancement of life science research, facilitate the drug discovery process and to enable cost-effective quantification of disease relevant molecules in the clinic.
